I  might have known you’d find an ingenious way to accumulate points as fast as possible and with the reward points scheme not even officially launched until today one energetic student has already accumulated 30 points worth of tips and links!

Don’t get me wrong, this is fantastic content and we’re not ungrateful, just slightly worried what will happen to the slender Beyond Baked Beans bank balance if you carry on firing them off at this rate. And, of course, the fact that as things stand the rest of you could send very similar tips or the same links and we’d have to cough up for you too.

So, a couple of  new rules or, rather, refinements:

  • No-one can submit more than 5 entries of any kind a month - recipes, pix and videos as well as tips and links
  • To gain points these need to be tips, links or recipes that we haven’t published before. How will you know? Well by checking out the new Student Tips section we’ll be launching on the website in the next couple of days. (In the meantime you’ll have to check out our Facebook page or simply submit your tip and we’ll tell you if someone has already come up with something similar)
  • Tips, recipes, pictures or videos that are submitted for another prize (i.e. for a competition) don’t count as part of the rewards scheme.

You might wonder if there are going to be any tips left worth submitting and the answer is, loads. You could tip your fellow students off about bargains you’ve spotted in supermarkets or restaurants for example. Or warn them off overpriced items.

Don’t forget to send us videos and pix of the dishes you’ve made too. And cheap, easy recipes.

To remind yourself of the reward points and prizes you can win click here and visit our Facebook page to see who currently tops the table . . .

ps - we've just discovered some of the people who have contributed tips are not students and obviously we don't want to discourage them - or you. So to qualify for the rewards scheme you either have to be studying at a British university OR be a UK-based fan of our Facebook page. Or both, of course. (We're not discriminating against those of you who are studying or living elsewhere, it's just that it gets complicated sending stuff overseas. If you can think of a way round this we'll consider it!
